January 20 (SeeNews) - A California-based subsidiary of Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (TYO:7011), or MHI, has agreed to service the 160-MW Brazos wind farm in Texas for a period of eight years.
More specifically, Diamond WTG Engineering & Services Inc has signed the long-term contract with the asset owner -- Brazos Wind Ventures LLC, which in turn is controlled by Shell Wind Energy Inc and Mitsui & Co (USA) Inc.
Under the deal’s terms, Diamond will also carry out several performance and reliability upgrades to the 1-MW Mitsubishi wind turbines at the site in order to optimise production and extend the life of the plant. This includes an upgraded governing oil system, improved multipurpose remote controller and the addition of an automatic greasing system for main bearings
The Brazos wind park has been operating since 2003. It sells its generated electricity to TXU Energy.
