FAIRPORT HARBOR, OHIO (PRWEB) FEBRUARY 26, 2016 Passing the baton from father to son at Torque Transmission has been a gradual process. Now, John W. Rampe is third-generation president of family business, started in 1947. Father John N. Rampe is CEO. “My father and I have been working together for quite some time now, with him guiding me through the transition,” says John W. Rampe, noting that the opportunity to carry on a family legacy and successful company is “definitely exciting.” Over the years, Torque Transmission has earned a reputation as a reliable provider of fractional horsepower motion control components for a range of industries. The company has built product lines including timing belt pulleys, right-angle gearboxes, speed reducers and thrust bearings. John W. Rampe brings multi-faceted manufacturing experience to his new leadership role. He has worked at Torque Transmission since 2008, and before becoming president he served as sales manager and vice president of sales. During that time, he focused on developing the business from all aspects while establishing relationships with the company’s dedicated staff. Before joining Torque Transmission, Rampe spent time working with a specialty manufacturer in sales engineering. “Change is a constant, and we want to keep the company always moving forward—to be smart and aggressive in the market,” says John N. Rampe, who’s proud to continue the family business with his son overseeing operations. “In changing leadership, the transition has to be seamless from the outside and inside,” he says. That means continuing to meet high standards for on-time delivery, product quality, and responsiveness, John N. Rampe notes. “We’ll make sure these values are never degraded,” he says. Change in leadership will not introduce any drastic business changes at Torque Transmission, John N. Rampe adds. “We won’t take any abrupt turns.” Though future success will include adapting the company’s current expertise in power transmission components for the OEM marketplace and creating new market opportunities. John W. Rampe says he will focus on growth and profit margins while further developing the gearbox line, “where there is definitely a demand in the marketplace,” he says. John N. Rampe adds that the company may look outside of its “sandbox” and consider how it can modify current products and roll out innovations to keep the business on the cutting edge. “More growth in the company is a given,” John N. Rampe says, relating that increasing sales volume during the next five years will require developing new products. The talent at Torque Transmission will play a significant role in its success, John W. Rampe adds. “For me, the focus next to growth will also be how to keep culture of a family-oriented business,” he says. “Our greatest asset is the people who work in our organization.” About Torque Transmission Torque Transmission produces fractional horsepower mechanical drive components for OEMs, with products that can be found in industries including food processing, medical, point of purchase, automotive, printing, semi-conductor manufacturing, sports and others.
