Zero-Max Wind Turbine Torque Limiters protect against peak loads
Time:28 Mar,2016
Zero-Max Wind Turbine Torque Limiters protect wind-turbine gearboxes and generators against peak loads, reversing torques, and grid-short events. They are also an ideal upgrade replacement for existing turbines and for OEM applications.
The Zero-Max torque limiter is engineered to mount directly to the generator shaft for easy installation and to avoid resonance concerns. Once installed, the torque limiter operation occurs internally and requires no readjusting or maintenance. The automatic re-engagement capability provides for continual 20-year operation with no manual intervention to reset the limiter after slip events.
Zero-Max’s torque limiters have been proven and tested to 5,600 slip torque events of 30° without falling out of tolerance. Engineered for application requirements ranging from 4kNm to 50kNm, with a temperature range of -40° to 80° C, this bi-directional functioning torque limiter has no limitations. By using a Zero Max composite disc coupling with this torque limiter, users will attain the highest level of overall protection for today’s wind-turbine drivetrain requirements.
Designed for onshore and offshore turbine drivetrains with capacities up to 5 MW, these Zero-Max Torque Limiters have extreme endurance in a lightweight package. Easy to install either on the production floor or in the cramped up tower environment, they operate equally well in new OEM turbines or existing drivetrain applications.
