Schaeffler and Porsche on WEC title hunt
Time:13 Apr,2016
The season opener of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) at Silverstone (GB) this weekend will kick off the “title defense project” for Porsche. Schaeffler is now represented for the third season as a partner of the German premium automobile brand in the racing series that is regarded as an equally tough and ideal test lab for innovations and new developments. Porsche will be on the grid in the top LMP1 category with two 919 Hybrid cars. Last year, the squad clinched the titles in the drivers’ and manufacturers’ classifications.
The 6-hour race in the United Kingdom is one in a total of nine rounds around the globe. The 24-hour classic at Le Mans, France, held on June 18 and 19 is the season’s pinnacle event. Porsche is set on repeating last year’s success at La Sarthe, to grab the brand’s 18th victory. The home round for Schaeffler and Porsche will take place at the Nürburgring on July 24.
