Romax’s latest A-DA certificate for gearbox innovation was achieved through the company’s global engineering team.
Romax was recently awarded a 35th design assessment, or GL A-DA, certificate for its NFAIC High-Precision Transmission 3.3-MW gearbox.
Certificates were awarded for wind gearboxes used in turbines ranging from 1.5-MW to over 5-MW. The 35th certificate is related to a unique 3.3-MW turbine that has an integrated drivetrain, which provides a more compact structure at a lighter weight while offering greater cost efficiency.
Romax engineering also added innovation to the design by enlarging the power rate without changing the packaging size (diameter of main gearing and housing), while using a flexible pin arrangement.
This latest A-DA certificate was achieved through Romax’s global engineering team, and represents a big milestone for the company. Romax looks to use existing information and engineering expertise in an effort to apply innovation to solve gearbox reliability issues within the wind industry.
